Clarification About the Fateforge Books Add-ons

Ouch I am so sorry for my brolen english :/ I know it can be confusing. On top of that I forgot an important information in the last news! 

So…. ! Here are the infos :

1/ Each book is $40 (Adventurers or Grimoire) for standard edition, so $80 for both. The Red Dragon Edition is $10 more, so $50 each, $100 both.

2/ What is the point with the $160 or $170 Fateforge Collector pack? Well, in addition to the three books in the edition of your choice, you get several additional items :

• 🏺 Set of 10 character sheets
• 🏺 Map of the World of Eana (23 × 33 inches)
• 🏺 Fateforge art prints x4

3/ If you want ONLY the RPG books, standard edition, our advice is : $40 Creatures printed version reward tier + $80 for Adventurers and Grimoire in standard edition. 

4/If you want additional stuff and game aids, jump on the last copies of the $170 tier because the value is great !

DAY 11: 250K Mark + Another Creature + New Goals!

And.... DONE! We have reached our last goal in 11 days! CONGRATS everyone! Let's go for a special update :) But before anything else, let us introduce you to....

Bonus Goal : Welcome to the Peacat !

This is our team's choice! The Peacat! A bestiary is a collection of wonders, legends, stories. We hope this creature will bring you laughter and good vibes! Congratulations again to the two other finalists, your concepts were really good :) Maybe next time?

The peacat, a fey being that looks like a cross between a peacock and a cat. Can teleport and pass into the plane of fey. Steals items it finds interesting or considers important from travelers, simply out of catlike curiosity.

The peacat will be illustrated by Chane, a very talented artist who worked a lot on the core book of Fateforge. Look at this : 

The Sentient House should be illustrated by Damna, one of the concept artist of Creatures. He has done this one for example :

Creatures Contest : Next step ! Vote for your Favourite Sketch

When an artist gets down to work, he usually presents several very quick sketches, several perceptions. And the art director will choose a path with him and develop it. You will participate directly in the choice by voting!

As soon as the sketches are ready, they will be published on the artist's social network. You and their community will be able to vote for the sketch you prefer.

Making this creature together is super exciting ! We'll make an update as soon as it's ready :) Stay tuned.

250K Goal reached : The Grotesque Feast in PDF for everyone

Now it's done! BRAVO! We have reached the 250K mark. And there are still two weeks to go. Incredible 0_0

Every backers will receive the Grotesque Feast in PDF as soon as it will be ready. Here are the infos shared previously :

"Remember the Addams Family? Now imagine that one of their cousins (and not the most good-looking or pleasant one) lives in the Drakenbergen and has just (forcibly) acquired a castle with the blessing of the vampire lord Kentigern. The new owner is preparing his wedding (though it is unclear whether the betrothed is actually willing, or even aware), and you have been invited to the feast and ensuing ceremony. What a nice opportunity for free food and a change of scenery! Just be careful not to end up on the menu…"

The Grotesque Feast will be a horrific dungeon crawler-type adventure for 5E, pitting a party of adventurers against grisly threats such as undead, constructs, and fey of a most unwholesome nature. The PCs’ combat prowess, wits, and sanity will be sorely tested.

The Next Steps in our Adventure

What next? For several days we've been thinking hard to come up with new bonuses and gifts for you folks. You deserve it SO much! And still two weeks !

It was not easy to conceive. We called our friends, looked in our drawer bottoms... imagined things! The challenge was to find a good balance between schedule, costs, and rewards for our beloved backers.

Here are the first clues. This can still change...!

We need some rest. The next update will arrive on Monday. It was an incredible start to this campaign,  such a crazy ride. We need to be rested for the last two weeks...!

DAY 9: Creatures Contest Result + 4000 Backers Bonus + New Option: The Chronolith

We continue to move forward at a good pace! Tonight we will talk about the result of the Creature Contest and introduce a new option: a sandbox-style module by Eric Nieudan, famous french RPG designer.

Creatures Contest Result

And here are the results:

• 1 ►  A sentient house with the ability to subtly communicate with its inhabitants. Much bigger on the inside than on the outside. Can disappear  and reappear from one side of the town to the other. 79 votes ⭐⭐⭐ Winner!! 
• 2 ► A demon spell stealer. Each player makes a int saving throw at the start of each round. A fail means the demon steals one of their spells and can use against them. Player cannot use that spell until  demon is defeated. 52 votes 
• 3 ► A  beast that appears like a regular animal/monster, but when attacked, can  summon shadowy versions of itself, or can jump into the shadows of enemies and come out of them. 26 votes 
• 4 ►The peacat, a fey being that looks like a cross between a peacock and a cat. Can teleport and pass into the plane of fey. Steals items it finds interesting or considers important from travelers, simply out of catlike curiosity. 50 votes 

Congrats to Arthur! His concept was picked by the backers and Iris will work on this new... « creature ». It will be included in the book :) Arhtur will also be featured in the credits of CREATURES. Later this month, we hope to share the artwork.

4000 Backers Bonus

And it's not over yet... we want to celebrate the 4000 backers. It is really a great milestone. As soon as we reach it, this will validate the integration of a second creature concept in the book. While the first was the vote of the backers, the second will be the choice of the team :)

Option: The Chronolith, by Eric Nieudan

Tonight, we are very happy to showcase Eric Nieudan’s work. Eric is a French writer, scenarist, and game designer specialized in role-playing games and variants thereof. He was born in France in 1972 and has been living in Dublin since 2007.

He started creating role-playing games in 2000 when he joined Oriflam after translating supplements for Feng Shui. Of note, he is the lead designer of Archipels and Post Mortem.

When an easy job turns into a fight for survival… Who would have guessed that this small valley at the edge of the kingdom was harboring a power able to force the doors of time wide open?

The Pass of Tahenn is a small forgotten valley tucked in the Drakenbergen. An apparently ordinary mission will lead the adventurers to delve in ancient ruins containing the mysterious and powerful Chronolith. Unfortunately, a temporal catastrophe will throw things into chaos and lead the adventurers to explore not only the space of this region, but also its bygone times!

The Chronolith is an original adventure by Eric Nieudan. It is compatible with any game making use of the 5E rules, and has been designed to be played autonomously, sandbox-style, offering great freedom and many possible twists. Intended for characters of levels 1-5, it will take the party on a dizzying trip through space and time, and pit them against dangers both mundane and extraordinary from many ages!

What next? 

We have been working hard these last few days (and nights XD) to prepare the next steps. We can't tell ourselves that the 250K mark will be the last goal! That's what we had planned but here is the magic of Kickstarter.

However, we have to be very very careful... The financial balance and the schedule of the project can quickly be threatened.

With these few safeguards in mind, we have imagined many bonuses and surprises for the last two weeks of this campaign. We can't wait to share them with you!

Hey all, tonight let’s talk about the Appendix and the FAQ. We also have the PDF of the GM screen for you and an indie RPG we want to talk about.

CREATURES: APPENDIX

We had several questions about them, let's go. This softcover, full color, 40 page book is included in print and PDF in the $70 Creatures: Collector reward tier. Do note you will be able to add a printed or/and PDF copy during the pledge manager.

So, what is this all about ??

As game masters, we have spent a lot of time poring through bestiaries, adorning them with all sorts of bookmarks and notes to keep track of the creatures that interested us and would be the stars of our next adventures. While working on CREATURES, we wanted to provide GM with a tool making such preparation—or improvisation!—easier.

In this book, you will find:

• A list of the creatures sorted by geographical location.
• A list of the creatures sorted by CR.
• A list of the creatures sorted by type.
• A list of available archetypes.
• A list of new optional rules and spells.

All creature lists come with useful precisions such as their CR, type, possible legendary nature, suitability as a mount, animal companion, or familiar, etc.

This book being a separate release will make it convenient to leaf through separately from CREATURES. All in all it is a very useful accessory but, of course, you can use your bestiary in the old school way without it :)

FAQ

We have built a FAQ and it sounds useful to share it with you.

► I am an early bird and I will get my 2 Metal Dice. I want to change / upgrade my pledge level, do I risk losing them? You can change your pledge in the course of the campaign at no risk to your early bird perks. Your early bird status is based on the time stamp of your very first pledge, not your reward tier.

► I am a retailer, can I back this project ? Yes! If you are a retailer, you can select the $70 Creatures: Collector Pack as a deposit. You will be included in the post-campaign Backerkit phase, at which point you will be able to acquire books and packs at a retail discount (50% off). You will be billed for the balance of your order + shipping fees at the end of the pledge manager. Backing this Kickstarter is the only way for shops to acquire Red Dragon packs. Enjoy!

► I am a backer at Creatures: Collector Pack or Fateforge RPG Collector Pack level. How can I select the covers I want for my books? You will choose between Standard or Red Dragon editions during the pledge manager, after the Kickstarter ends.

► Can I upgrade my reward during the pledge manager ? Nope, you will not be able to change it during the pledge manager phase; only to get add-ons. If you want to updgrade your reward tier, you must do it during the Kickstarter campaign.

► How to add options? Click “Manage my pledge” and add the amount corresponding to your option(s). You don’t need to change your chosen reward tier; just edit the amount you are pledging to account for any add-ons you want. When we send you the survey after the end of the campaign, you will tell us what option(s) the extra amount is for.

► The only difference between the $160 Fateforge RPG Collector Pack vs $170 wave 2 version is that I got a discount for being a backer in the first few hours, right? Yes, correct! Exact same contents :)

250 K Stretch Goal: The Grotesque Feast

Some of you expressed how you were looking forward to more adventures to play and stage the creatures, so for the 250 K stretch goal, we offer you The Grotesque Feast, by Iris, the lead designer of CREATURES! Here is her introduction:

Fateforge’s Modular System

We've had quite a few questions on this subject, so here's some more infos! CREATURES makes use of a modular system represented by icons. With it, game leaders can quickly and conveniently know what type of playstyle an optional rule, spell, magic item, feature, etc. is appropriate for, and whether they’ll want to include it in their campaign. For example, if the leader wants to run a dark fantasy campaign, they’ll know to look for “Dark” icons. Below you can find an example with the Inane.

In this fashion, each leader can look through the many modular options presented in CREATURES, and handpick them as suits their story and the atmosphere they want to nurture.

Here is a list of the modular icons used:

► Action. This icon indicates all the rules, magic items, and situations that offer epic options and emphasize the characters’ feats and achievements.

► Corruption. The Corruption icon shows spells and magic items whose use causes corruption, the mark of Canker, Eana’s archvillain.

► Dark. The optional rules, magic items, creatures, and situations indicated by this icon are all related to horror, madness, or corruption. These elements are conducive to playing in a dark fantasy atmosphere.

► Gritty. This icon indicates all the rules, magic items, and situations synonymous with hardships, shortages, danger, cold, and vulnerability. Their use will make the adventurers’ lives harder, far from the status of almighty heroes.

► Intrigue. Optional rules bearing this icon focus on interactions between the characters, on schemes and plots between factions, and on anything that highlights the characters’ aspirations and encourages role-playing.

► Magic Lock. A creature associated with a Magic Lock requires large quantities of magical energy to thrive. The leader determines how prevalent the Magic Lock is in their campaign. The more restrictive the Magic Lock, the more down-to-earth the campaign.

► Mystery. This icon designates rules, magic items, and situations associated with mysteries, supernatural elements, and anything related to secrets, revelations, and arcana.

New Option : Advantage Metal Dice

This new option allows you to purchase a set of two Metal Dice, either with a matt silver or antique bronze finish. Each set is designed to play the Advantage and Disadvantage rolls.

If you have supported the project within the first 48 hours, you will already receive a set as a gift! The option costs only $10 for one set of 2. Take advantage of it, it's a special offer during the Kickstarter! After that, the set will be sold at a much higher price. It's time to treat yourself, plan some nice gifts for your friends and help reach our next stretch goal !

A bloody epic infusion of music and game play, The Red Opera is a new 5th Edition campaign set in a remote northern tundra, within a city controlled by chaotic Warlocks. The campaign is an adaptation of the album & stage show of the same name by the band, DiAmorte, and the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame has signed on as an official sponsor. Additionally, they've partnered with the Budapest Symphonic Scoring Orchestra to create an entire new, extended suite of music to serve as a backing track for each game play chapter via QR code.
