Progress on freighting - US / Rest of the world

[đ«đ· version française plus bas]
Dear all!
First of all, thank you for your patience for this update :) Lots of new information for you today:Â
an update on the extra shipping fees,Â
on the delivery of your rewards (for both US and non-US backers),Â
and indications on how to get customer support from us should you need it.
But letâs get into the meat of this update without further ado, featuring news that we were all looking forward to!
IF YOU ARE A NON-US BACKER
We can now announce that the much anticipated accessories from China have reached France.
The two containers carrying the accessories to be delivered to non-US backers have been unloaded in Le Havre and customs have been cleared. Items will be transported to our warehouses where heavy logistics await, since all the backers to be delivered amount several thousands of packages! As a reminder, the books have been printed in Europe and delivered for a long time. This means that we will soon be in possession of all the elements to deliver your rewards :)
We ask for your patience for just a little bit longer; the wait will soon be over. We will do our utmost to ensure that you get your rewards as promptly as possible. Our goal is to deliver before Christmas and we may just make it! Once deliveries are underway, we will make sure to let you all know and keep you all informed.
Oh boy this shippoing thing was a hell of a ride! Just imagine this: until recently an update of the cargo destination indicated Antwerp... which meant that Le Havre was cancelled as a stop. These things can happen in these chaotic times: too much waiting or other problems in a port can mean that the ship cancels a stop and continues on its way. In practice, the delay can amount to several weeks or even months0 And two or three days after this announcement, we learned that the ship was disembarking in Le Havre! No doubt a relief but also a lot of stress...! Anyway, the goods are there, look at this video which shows one of the two containers:
IF YOU ARE A US BACKER
The other two containers transporting all the accessories are scheduled to reach the US around November 23rd. We are still waiting for a date for the fifth container transporting all the books.
Departing from China, the cargo ship made a stop in South Korea, where it stayed for a long time. We have just received confirmation that it is en route once more, and you can track its progress in real time on zim.com. Go to âToolsâ, then âTrack a shipmentâ, and enter the following number: ZIMUSNH7291341 (a direct link has been found not to work all the time, hence this step-by-step).
Once the ship has reached its US destination in late November, it will take 2 to 3 weeks to unload, go through customs, and transport the items to our warehouses, where the books already await. Therefore, and despite our every effort, it is very unlikely that we can have your rewards delivered to you in time for the end-of-the-year holidays. Our new estimated time of arrival is January 2022 for US backers. We are very sorry for that. Of course, we will keep you informed of any progress in that regard, and will do our utmost to keep things moving as quickly as possible.
TO ALL BACKERS
Backers were charged for shipping fees and add-ons in early November as detailed in previous updates (such as here). However, in the case of 500 backers, payment was deniedânot only for the extra shipping fees, but also for any add-ons to the initial pledge. As it is, these 500 pledges therefore remain errored and can not be delivered.
Make sure to watch for Backerkitâs follow-up e-mails in order to update your account if required, and thus ensure that your rewards can be delivered to you as soon as possible.
Remember that without a response on your part by December 6th, if the extra shipping fees are the only item unpaid on your Backerkit account, we will assume by default that you do not wish to contribute to those extra shipping fees, and they will be removed. If all your other items have been paid for, your rewards will be sent at the same time as all the others.
As we keep working toward ensuring that you get your well-earned rewards, we wish to thank you once more for your support and patience through this great campaign and its many unexpected developments and challenges. It is thanks to you that we have gotten so far and that the Fateforge series can finally take flight for good. Â
To finish this update, here are some new excerpts from the next book we are working on: Creatures: Netherworld. It is almost done! We hope to launch the Kickstarter in february after everyone will be delivered.
Thank you for seeing it all through with us <3
đ«đ· Chers tous !
Tout d'abord, merci pour votre patience pour cette nouvelle mise Ă jour :) Beaucoup d'informations Ă vous communiquer en ce jour :Â

Mass Production is Complete + Delivery Schedule Update
about 3 years ago
â Thu, Sep 09, 2021 at 01:34:57 AM
[đ«đ· version française plus bas]
Hello everyone,
Summer is almost over, and now that we finally have the important information weâve been expecting for months, itâs time for an update! Here are the key informations:
Manufacturing is complete! All the items are now waiting to be freighted.
The survey we opened in July is now closed. The âAsk backers to help cover extra shipping feesâ option was the most popular by far. In this regard, every backer will be able to choose whether they want to chip in or not. There will be no obligation. Those who wish to give more will be able to, and will get a special digital reward as thanks. There will be a dedicated update on the subjectvery soon with all the details.Â
Billing for shipping fees and Backerkit add-ons will likely take place at the end of September. You will get an e-mail on the subject when the time comes. If you encounter issues or have questions concerning your account, let us know with a contact form: https://www.studio-agate.com/en/contactÂ
As for the delivery schedule, according to our contacts, delivery will occur between December at the soonest and next spring at the latest. Every day, we do all we can to ensure that you will get your rewards before Christmas.
That covers everything! Now, if you want to know more about out current prospects and what is happening behind the scenes, here is food for thought and details on the current situation.
In details
Starting with the good news, manufacturing is FINALLY complete. What a relief. After months of delays, a production schedule that got constantly pushed back, increased costs without warning, issues with the availability of raw material⊠Itâs over. Manufacturing is done. We have received the last samples for mass production and are currently quality-checking them before they are freighted. As a reminder, our books are made in Europe, while major accessories (dice, boxes, pawns, etc.) are made in China. We are now about to enter the last step of the project: transportation.
Sea freight crisis
To our dismay, the difficulties related to maritime freight that we described in the previous updates have gotten worse. The current crisis is almost without comparison. Letâs start with the prices. To give you some numbers, we have a total of five containers to move. Where the freighting of a container used to be around $5,000, the quotes now range from $20,000 to $30,000 per container depending on the destination. Another difficulty lies in the waits and delays before items are on their way. Even with such sums, you may have to wait several weeks, if not more, as there is a sort of bidding system, with those who pay the most getting to go first. To those of you who might legitimately wonder: no, the quotations we were offered gave no guarantees regarding freighting schedules. Itâs âTake it or leave it... or pay more.â. And it goes without saying that our structure, despite our best efforts, has its limits.
With that said, we are confident. We promise that weâll deliver all the rewards you are owed. Thatâs a commitment we are certain we can make good on. This leads us to the matter of the delivery schedule. At the soonest, we estimate that you might get your rewards in time for Christmas. Why this date in particular? Currently, we are fighting to get your rewards on their way on September 22nd. After that will be Golden Week in China, meaning that the next departure wonât be before late October. So in late September, weâll know whether Christmas deliveries will be possible or not. Even then, however, we wouldnât be out of the woods, because docks are currently very crowded, particularly in the US. The situation is less critical in the EU, meaning that as far as European backers are concerned, itâs much more likely that weâll get everything in time to ensure a delivery before Christmas. Out of principle, weâd like for everyone to be delivered at the same time, but it is possible that weâll do two delivery waves, with Europe and the rest of the world first, and then the US. But at the moment, we have not reached a decision.
Why are we confident today? For several reasons. All the people involved in our studio have given their all. Profits accrued by Agate are invested in the studio. The current situation has forced us to put several projects on hold and to put off several planned hires. We dearly hope that those will only be momentary delays. Most of our partners have been accommodating with payments, giving us some breathing room financially. And finally, a good portion of the community has expressed the will to help us cover the extra shipping fees. All of this together lets us hope that we will make it through this new ordeal. Now that manufacturing is complete and freighting is pending, thereâs nothing more we can do on the current front. Like you, we must wait. In the end, despite all the pressure, we consider ourselves lucky. We are in good health and the studio endures, side by side with you, our dear community. This gives us ever-renewed courage and determination.
I have read here and there that some backers didnât want transparency from us, but rather efficacy. This gave me a lot to think about. For many reasons, I donât like promises. And for that matter, I would rather be pessimistic (those who are familiar with my work on Shadows of Esteren know why) and be pleasantly surprised than the opposite. The only thing I can guarantee is transparency, because you are our backers. Though I obviously donât know each and every one of you, I am familiar with some names. People I had drinks with at GenCon, and whom I met in England, France, and elsewhere. Without you, we would not exist. Thatâs what I repeat to myself every day. I hope that you will get your books as soon as possible, and that we still have your trust and support. I donât know if we have been efficacious. Obviously, we could have done better, but we did all we could, with all our hearts, to create these books and have them delivered to you.
A happy September to all of you. I hope to be able to write the next update very soon, with all the details related to the survey and to how you might be able to help us through this ultimate step.
